Arhus is the second largest city in Denmark with around 300,000 inhabitants, it is the country’s most important port. Arhus is said to be the oldest city in Scandinavia and is also known as the “city of smiles”. Arhus plays a major part in the trade of agricultural products mainly due to the fact it has the largest industrial harbour in Denmark. If you are interested in architecture then take a visit to Arhus Domkirke, Denmark’s tallest cathedral. Arhus City hall is also a magnificent building known for its unique construction. Arhus Party week takes over the city at the beginning of September; this is a cultural festival and is packed with opera’s, concerts, exhibitions and entertainment of all varieties.
There are over 500 cafes, with lots of nightclubs and amusement parks catering for the large student population. Arhus has a temperate maritime climate, with showers throughout the year along with chilly coastal winds.
